Most people think cultural awareness is about learning about other people and how they do and don’t do things. This is a common misconception. Although this is certainly part of it, cultural awareness also relies heavily on self-awareness. In TCP LIVE debut with topic of “Stereotypes in the Workplace”, Sunaina mentioned a very interesting insight on how important it is to be self aware and not judge the other person in any interaction. Self-awareness helps us acknowledge that we are shaped by the world around us. By acknowledging this about yourself, you also acknowledge that this is just as true for anyone else – everyone does what they do due to underlying influences. The process might be slow and tedious but ultimately it will help you better respond rather than react in multicultural settings. #WorkplaceStereotypes #Bias #LearnWithTCPGrowth #TCPLive #CrossCultural #Intercultural
