You are your story and it all depends on how you tell it.

Jan Kot

Jan Kot was born and raised in Shanghai, educated in Hong Kong and the United States. With a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in creative writing, she has spent her career at the intersection of storytelling, global communication, and cross-border transformation. She began her career as a journalist, working for leading news and business publications across Asia. Her reporting focused on China’s social and cultural evolution, particularly in the lead-up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. She was also among the first Chinese writers to cover the Chinese diaspora and business ventures in Africa.

Jan is a seasoned intercultural storytelling & TED speaker coach and communication trainer. She regularly works with senior executives across sectors, coaching them on impactful communication and personal narrative. She was previously a guest lecturer at HKU SPACE Institute for China Business, where she taught strategic storytelling to professionals. As Executive Advisor and Speaker at TCP Growth, Jan brings a unique edge in bridging linguistic, cultural, and business gaps between mainland China and Hong Kong — a space where she has lived, worked, and thrived for over two decades. Fluent in English, Mandarin, Shanghainese, and Cantonese, Jan continues to champion the power of story as a tool for connection, influence, and transformation across borders.Executive Advisor & Intercultural Storytelling Specialist, TCP Growth
